General Services Administration
Steve currently serves as the Deputy Chief Information Officer for the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). As DCIO, he is responsible for assisting the GSA Chief Information Officer in the leadership of all GSA information technology (IT) responsibilities and authorities. He also serves as an advisor to the CIO, Administrator, Deputy Administrator and other senior GSA officials on all technology matters. Previously, he served as the Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer for the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Prior to his appointment as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer, he served as the Chief Information Security Officer at ED. As CISO, he was responsible for implementing the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) requirements including developing, maintaining, and continually enhancing a nationwide cybersecurity program. He has held other senior leadership and technical posts at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). Before joining federal service, he spent several years in private industry including Ernst & Young, Microstrategy, as well as a series of startups. Steve has an extensive background in strategic planning, technology innovation, program management, enterprise architecture, governance and cybersecurity in the public and private sectors.
